Japanese Cultural Experiences

Japanese Cultural Experiences

These Japanese Cultural Experience events have been held since 2009, in order to give non-Japanese visitors and residents a chance to experience traditional Japanese culture, and perhaps get to see it in a new light, as a form of international exchange.
The first event was “Wagashi (Japanese confectionery) Making”, and others have included kodo, a traditional incense-smelling ceremony, Noh theatre, Jinja Shrines and other traditional cultural aspects of the everyday life of Japanese people. We hope to continue to plan a variety of fun ideas for these events in the future. The key point of these Japanese Cultural Experience events, is the word “Experience” – rather than formal lectures, these events are intended to be ‘hands on’, and are a good opportunity to experience Japanese culture up close. Even Japanese people are welcome to come and experience traditional culture one more.
We hope that these events will enable people to appreciate Japan’s traditions, handed down from ancient times, and to feel a more intimate connection with them, so please do join us.
